Phobias and fears

Fear is one of the most basic human emotions. It is programmed into the nervous system and works like an instinct. From the time we're infants, we are equipped with the survival instincts necessary to respond with fear when we sense danger or feel unsafe. Fear helps protect us. It makes us alert to the danger and prepares us to deal with it. Feeling afraid is very natural — and helpful — in some situations. Fear can be like a warning, a signal that cautions us to be careful. Like all emotions, fear can be mild, medium, or intense, depending on the situation and the person. A feeling of fear can be brief or it can last longer.
A phobia is an intense fear reaction to a particular thing or a situation. With a phobia, the fear is out of proportion to the potential danger. But to the person with the phobia, the danger feels real because the fear is so very strong. Phobias cause people to worry about, dread, feel upset by, and avoid the things or situations they fear because the physical sensations of fear can be so intense. So having a phobia can interfere with normal activities. A person with a phobia of dogs might feel afraid to walk to school in case he or she sees a dog on the way. Someone with an elevator phobia might avoid a field trip if it involves going on an elevator.
astraphobia, fear of thunder and lightning. I definitely have this phobia. I hate thunder and lightning, and it really scares me.
arachnophobia, fear of spiders. I have this because whenever I see one, I go all shaky and I back away really quickly.
acrophobia, fear of heights.
aerophobia, fear of flying.
autophobia, fear of being alone.
claustrophobia, fear of confined or crowded spaces.
homophobia, fear of blood.
hydrophobia, fear of water.

Yucky ice cream

Reindeer ready

It is Christmas eve now. Comet and dasher and the others are harnessed up beside me, and we are hoping to visit some farms. The farms usually have carrots. Once we went to the farm, and there was a horsey eating them! So today as we fly over the towns, Santa tells us to land at a house we can see down below. This is a house that usually leaves carrots, so we were VERRY exited, but when Santa comes back up the chimney and has a breath smelling of mince pies and empty hands, we were so disappointed! That happened at the next house and the next. Then at the last house, he has a huge bag full of carrots! I love Santa.

Letter to santa

Dear santa

I would like the council to build a block of flats somewhere for homeless people to live. It doesn't need to be big, just enough for one or two people. I would like that because they live on the streets and it is really sad to see them there. I also think it is sad how some people live in a huge mansion with everything that they could possibly need, and they think that it gives them a right to step over the homeless.

What if...

What do you think the world would be like if…
If kids had tails… I think that if kids had tails then you would be able to do a lot of unimaginable things as Greg Heffley describes in a diary of a wimpy kid.

If leaves were fish…Everyone would probably have a fish tank in their house and if you want
a new pet, pick one! (the trees would probably have to pump water through
the branches to keep them alive)

If toes were teeth...It would be really strange as you would have to cut your TEETH!
and if you chipped your toenail, you would have to go to the dentist for your FEET!

MY FAVOURITE FOODS

Image result for cheese toastieMy favorite lunch meal is a cheese toasty. these too are easy to make, because you only need bread, cheese, and a toasted sandwich maker. I love the taste because melted cheese is the BEST!

No more prize giving!

https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2018/11/silverdale-primary-school-drops-prizegiving-over-ranking-and-sorting-concerns.html
This is a link to a news report on Silverdale primary school, a school which has decided that they will have no prizegiving.

The positives for this are that children will not get disappointed or angry if they do not get a prize, and they will not have to sit through a long prizegiving.Image result for trophy pngImage result for cartoon smug face

The negatives of this are that they will not be striving to achieve anything, and so if one person works really hard all year and the other person does nothing, the hard worker will not get recognized. They are still running prizes for sports though, which is really unfair.Image result for trophy pngImage result for cartoon sad face
