This is a link to a news report on Silverdale primary school, a school which has decided that they will have no prizegiving.
The positives for this are that children will not get disappointed or angry if they do not get a prize, and they will not have to sit through a long prizegiving.
The negatives of this are that they will not be striving to achieve anything, and so if one person works really hard all year and the other person does nothing, the hard worker will not get recognized. They are still running prizes for sports though, which is really unfair.
